It seems apt on international womens' day to remember one of our group's first activities in King's Cross, a walk around the area in the footsteps of Mary Wollstonecraft

Tired from celebrating the beginning of the Carnaval in Brazil until the early hours, I certainly wasn't planning to see poetry on a Saturday morning. However, on the pretext of collecting our group's second-signed Living Streets Charter from Tobias in Argyle Square, I was taken to a flat in the Hillview Estate, given coffee and biscuits, and was sat down with several others in David Lee Morgan's living room.
David was recently appointed Farrago UK Slam Poetry champion and performed eight pieces for us; these are under consideration for a festival in France, and we were asked to rate them. One was an inside story, a critique about Chelmsford rules of poetry assessment, others tackled Palestine, relationships, and some local characters known to some neighbours present. I left buzzing and with a strangely new relationship to King's Cross.
